It has been a turbulent week for Flammes Carolo ahead of their clash with Landerneau Bretagne at La Cimenterie. The investigation reportedly concerns allegedly abusive or fictitious sick-leave claims between 2019 and 2026, with the resulting losses to France’s Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) estimated at more than €500,000.
Although Yernaux is expected to remain on the bench for today’s game, the situation has inevitably placed the club under considerable pressure. The atmosphere surrounding the team appears unsettled and their latest home performance offered little reassurance, as they suffered a 61-69 defeat against Landes.
Landerneau Bretagne ended a two-game losing streak with an encouraging 59-74 away victory over ESB Villeneuve. They have several capable foreign players in their rotation, including American Harmoni Turner, who delivered an impressive performance in their most recent round.
The h2h record also makes this an interesting match. Across Landerneau’s last six visits, Flammes Carolo have managed just one victory, winning by only three points. I expect a competitive gamein which home side should be capable of keeping the margin close.
