Igokea began their ABA League campaign with a 97-89 victory over Slovan Bratislava, but struggled in the Champions League, suffering a 79-92 defeat to Spaniards Bilbao. Despite that setback, Igokea appear to have the stronger roster compared with Borac, with several quality foreign players capable of making a significant difference.
Borac underwent substantial roster changes ahead of the new season after losing several of their best players. Their campaign also got off to a disappointing start, as they suffered an unexpected 81-87 home defeat against newly promoted Široki Brijeg. This result was particularly concerning given Borac’s reliance on home-court advantage. They struggled away from home last season, losing 10 of their 13 home games.
Their preparations for this match have been further disrupted by health concerns. Head coach Ocokoljić has had to contend with a viral illness affecting six players, all of whom reportedly missed training sessions.
Igokea is the stronger side. Their superior roster quality, combined with Borac’s difficult start, squad instability and illness concerns, gives good chance to cover the line. Also, Igokea win five of their six h2h meetings in Laktaši.
