This is another information from Montenegrin international Dabetic, who currently plays for another Division 1 side, Aegir.
After their surprise Icelandic Cup triumph last season, Vestri earned the opportunity to compete in the UEFA qualifiers, where their European adventure ended against RFS and Qarabag. Following that demanding campaign, the team has also lost one of its important players, Cheshmedjiev (11/1).
In the league, Vestri are currently seven points clear of the relegation zone with only two rounds remaining in the regular season. Their away form, however, has been extremely poor, with just two points from their last six away matches (0-2-4).
They now travel to face Afturelding, the league leaders, who are in an excellent position in the promotion race. They have two points more than second-placed Thróttur, while also having a game in hand, meaning a victory here would put them extremely close to securing direct promotion.
Afturelding have also been the most productive attacking team in the league, scoring an impressive 62 goals in 20 matches. Their offensive quality has been one of the main reasons behind their position at the top of the table.
The motivation is therefore completely different. Vestri is safe from relegation and have struggled badly away from home, while Afturelding have everything to play for and know that three points would be a huge step towards promotion.
