Recap
This is a play-off clash in the Polish 2nd League, where the stakes are enormous. Unlike some other countries, the promotion play-offs are decided in only one match, which makes every mistake potentially decisive. Wieczysta Krakow have the advantage of playing at home thanks to their 3rd-place finish and, if they progress, they will also host the final.
The ambitions of the club are clear. Last season Wieczysta competed in the 3rd League, but with strong financial backing and serious investment, the goal was immediate promotion to the 1st League. Although they failed to secure direct promotion, the season can still end successfully through the play-offs.
One of their biggest strengths throughout the campaign has been the attack. Only league leaders Wisla scored more goals than Wieczysta, which clearly shows the offensive quality this team possesses. The main reason they missed direct promotion was their defensive inconsistency and too many easily conceded goals, so once again the hosts are expected to rely heavily on their attacking potential.
However, this will be far from an easy task. Polonia finished only 6th in the standings, but their away performances were excellent throughout the season and they actually collected more points on the road than at home. That makes them a very dangerous opponent in this type of knockout scenario.
