Recap
Benfica have made an excellent start to their EuroCup campaign, winning all three of their opening group stage fixtures. They recorded victories over Saarlouis (69-65), Student (75-82) and Sopron (72-62) and will now travel to Germany looking to maintain their perfect record.
One of the Portuguese side’s biggest strengths has been their effectiveness in the paint. This was particularly evident in their opening match against Saarlouis, when Schaquilla Nunn delivered an outstanding performance with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Her consistently impressive displays throughout October also earned her the distinction of being named the competition’s Player of the Month.
Saarlouis will be without injured duo Jordyn Jenkins (14.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.3 apg) and Elina Koskimies (12.7 ppg, 4 rpg, 4.3 apg). Jenkins was particularly influential and was top scorer in the first game between these teams, contributing 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists making her absence a considerable setback for the hosts, especially from an offensive perspective.
Benfica have demonstrated greater consistency and overall quality during the group stage, possess a significant inside presence through the in-form Nunn and now face a Saarlouis side weakened by important offensive absences. I believe the visitors have a strong opportunity to secure another victory.
