Recap

Mexico continues its preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a friendly clash against Ghana and Javier Aguirre is expected to rotate his squad, relying mostly on Liga MX players after the end of the European season.

Ghana arrives in difficult circumstances after four consecutive defeats and a recent coaching change, with Carlos Queiroz replacing Otto Addo. The African side is also expected to field a very experimental squad made up largely of U23 and domestic-based players.

The overall quality gap between the two teams looks significant, especially considering the level difference between the Mexican league and the Ghanaian domestic championship.

In addition, the match will be played in Puebla at around 2200 meters above sea level – conditions that are traditionally very demanding for visiting teams and could create even more problems for Ghana.
