Recap
AC Oulu have been one of the biggest positive surprises in the Veikkausliiga this season, arguably second only to TPS in terms of exceeding expectations. They currently sit in 3rd place with 18 points, only six behind leaders Inter Turku, while still having two matches in hand.
A major factor behind their success has been the excellent form of experienced midfielder Rasmus Karjalainen, who returned “home” from SJK, together with talented young striker Julius Korkko. The duo has combined for 10 of the team’s 14 league goals after nine rounds and continues to lead the attack with great consistency.
AC Oulu have won three of their last four league matches and have been especially dominant at home, winning all three home games without conceding a single goal.
Jaro appear to be one of the weakest squads in the league in terms of overall quality. The visitors lost several key figures from last season, including important players Kusu and Cissoko, as well as their successful head coach, which significantly weakened the team structure.
Jaro remain winless away from home this season (0-2-3) with a disastrous 1:11 goal difference, showing major problems both offensively and defensively on the road. In addition, they arrive weakened by further absences:
❌ Myrevik (9/0)
❌ Zetterström (6/0)
❌ Weckström (3/1)
Considering current form, squad quality, home performances and momentum, AC Oulu clearly look like the stronger side at this moment.
