Recap

Debrecen have undergone a major squad overhaul during the summer and the early signs suggest the new-look team is still searching for cohesion. The Hungarian side have struggled to build momentum at the start of the season, recording only a narrow 1-0 victory over Armenian side Pyunik Yerevan while suffering defeats in both opening rounds of the domestic championship.

Their problems are compounded by an extensive injury list. Maximilian Hofmann and Sergi Samper have both been ruled out for four to five weeks with hamstring injuries, while Dominik Kocsis and Gergő Tercza were forced off in the recent defeat to Újpest and are still awaiting the results of further medical examinations. Julien Dacosta and Dénes Szakál also remain sidelined, while Botond Vajda has returned to training but is not yet ready to start. The combination of injuries and a newly assembled squad leaves Debrecen with limited stability ahead of a demanding European test.

FC Copenhagen, travel to Hungary with a squad that is largely intact. Although they have a few defensive absences and Suzuki is suspended, the Danish champions retain virtually their entire attacking unit. Mohamed Elyounoussi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Andreas Cornelius, Robert Silva, Giovanni Ndje, and Mustapha Nyassi are all available, while the return of Thomas Delaney provides an important boost in midfield with his leadership, experience and defensive discipline.

The visitors have also started the season in impressive fashion, scoring 11 goals across their opening four competitive matches and demonstrating the attacking quality that has made them one of Scandinavia’s strongest clubs.

The Danish side appear well equipped to create numerous chances. With their offensive firepower and greater overall quality, Copenhagen look capable of scoring at least twice.
