Ludwigshafen are going through a difficult period, having suffered heavy defeats in their last two away matches, 32–21 and 38–28. They have been beaten in five of their last six rounds and are now facing a serious injury crisis that has further weakened their squad.
The biggest blow is the loss of their leading scorer, Friedrich Schmitt, who has suffered a torn lateral collateral ligament and is expected to be sidelined for several months. In addition to losing their most important attacking player, Ludwigshafen will also be without Pawel Krawczyk, René Zobel, Lennart de Hooge, Lars Röller and Tilo Müller. These absences leave the team severely depleted ahead of another challenging fixture.
N-Lübbecke arrive on the back of two consecutive victories and have an excellent opportunity to extend their winning streak.
