This will be the opening game of the City of Split Cup, hosted by Split at Gripe Arena.
Split have assembled an excellent roster for the new season. After confirming the return of Lovre Runjić and Darko Bajo, they further strengthened the squad with American guard Trenton McLaughlin and Ivan Gulin, who arrives after an impressive spell with Dubrovnik. Their latest addition is Lithuanian national team player Mindaugas Kačinas, who joined the team just five days ago and is set to make his debut in this tournament.
Dubrovnik have been significantly weakened during the offseason. They have lost both of their top scorers, American Jamari Wheeler and Ivan Gulin and have yet to bring in adequate replacements for either player. That leaves them with considerably less offensive firepower and depth than their opponents.
Split has a much stronger and deeper roster and home-court advantage. I expect a one-sided match with a comfortable double-digit victory.
