Sevilla have collected seven points from their opening four matches, while Valencia have managed only one point and remain without a victory (0-1-3) at the bottom of the standings.
Sevilla started the campaign positively with wins over Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao. Although they suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Atlético Madrid, they responded with a 1-1 draw against Espanyol and now return to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, where they should be highly motivated to claim another three points. In terms of absences only Sangante (3/0 suspended) and Vargas (1/0) are unavailable.
Valencia’s situation is considerably more worrying. They have suffered three consecutive league defeats, including a 0-5 humiliation against Barcelona and Carlos Corberán is already under significant pressure. He has do deal with a lot of absences as Diakhaby (4/0), Sadiq (3/1), Guido (2/0), Rioja (2/0), Copete, López, Canós and Foulquier are unavailable, while de Haas (1/0) is included in the squad, but has completed part of the training session with the team and is still not at 100%.
Another important factor is Valencia’s schedule. This begins a demanding period of three matches in nine days, with Alavés and Real Sociedad coming after Sevilla. The squad is already stretched and I think that Sevilla has a good chances to get back on the winning road.
