Portugal will open their European Championship campaign with an extremely demanding match against the reigning champions, Poland. The Poles are a genuine powerhouse of men’s volleyball, having won the European Championship in the previous edition, three World Championship titles (1974, 2014 and 2018), while currently sitting at the top of the FIVB world ranking.
The gap in quality, experience and international pedigree is significant and Poland should have too much firepower and depth for Portugal to cope with. I expect Poland to dominate from the outset and secure a convincing 3-0 victory, under this points line.
